Sources and feed setup
How the regional calendar can absorb venue, community, council, and ticketing feeds.
This prototype keeps event data in data/events.yaml, with source definitions in data/sources.yaml.
The importer in scripts/import_events.py can normalize:
- iCal/ICS calendars from venues and public calendars.
- CSV exports from spreadsheets, box office tools, or community submission forms.
- JSON feeds from council, venue, ticketing, or tourism systems.
Approved first-pass live-feed targets:
- Eastgate Theatre, MacArts, Traquair House, Live Borders What’s On, and the Great Tapestry of Scotland.
- Abbotsford, Alchemy Film & Arts, Borders Book Festival, and VisitScotland regional event listings.
- Music sources from Eventbrite, Borders Chamber Choir, and Borders Chamber Orchestra.
- Food-market sources from Kelso Farmers Market, The Wigtown Market, and Langholm Producers Market.
- St Boswells Village Hall, St Boswells Fair, Coldstream Civic Week, The Hirsel, and Duns Castle / Duns Castle Nature Reserve.
- Borders Events Centre and Trimontium Museum event listings.
Each imported event should preserve its original source link so visitors can confirm details with the organiser.
Photo assets are listed in data/photos.yaml so they can be swapped for local commissioned images, council media, venue photography, or other licensed sources without changing templates.

Kelso Farmers Market
Facebook public metadata says the market is held on the 4th Saturday of every month. July 2026 is a locked exception moved from 25 July to 11 July and must not be reverted by imports.

Annual fair day is listed as 18 July each year. Keep as a notable recurring event and replace the reference link if a primary organiser page is found.
